Explore Mesa, Arizona and surrounding agricultural communities through geocaching with the Mesa’s Fresh Foodie Trail GeoTour (GT49A). The GeoTour introduces geocachers to the culinary treasures of the Fresh Foodie Trail®.

Here, fresh experiences, a treasured heritage of family farms, and long-standing festivals make for lasting memories. Serving as a culinary gateway to Phoenix and Scottsdale, the neighboring farms in and around Mesa provide a bounty of seasonal goods for visitors to enjoy year-round.

Travelers will be delighted by the variety of produce which features citrus in January, peaches in May, and olives in October. Throughout the winter and spring there is an abundance of farmers markets with produce varying by season.

Do you want to make your geocaching outing even more exciting and delicious? Visitors to the area enjoy annual foodie festivals like: Peach Blossom Festival, Pumpkin & Chili Party, Festival of the New Oil, Olive Blossom Bash, U-Pick Citrus/Peaches, and Olivepalooza. You can also time your visit to experience chef-driven dinners in the most romantic of settings and meet Arizona winemakers that pour from their hearts.

The GeoTour is great for kids and adults alike. Geocacher “laurenguinn2” liked the family-friendly geocaches, “Our very first geocache! One of the hidden gems you will discover on the GeoTour is Schnepf Farms (2 caches are located on the grounds: GC91Y5D & GC93F5F) which has been owned and farmed by the Schnepf family for over 75 years. It has even been designated an Arizona Treasure by the Governor!

Many of the caches are in areas that are best visited during the daytime. There may be some access limitations in the evenings, so be sure to check the cache descriptions. Wear closed-toe shoes as these are active agricultural areas, and there may not be paved access paths.
