As we ring in 2022 with open arms and open minds, there’s nothing better than taking a few moments to acknowledge what we accomplished in 2021 and to look forward to new experiences. New Year’s resolutions are a great way to set and visualize goals. They can be small and achievable, or elaborate and inspirational.

To help you set new goals for your geocaching adventures in 2022, we’ve created 5 New Year’s geocaching resolutions to add to your list!

Find more cache types

To kick the year off right, our first recommended geocaching resolution is to expand far beyond the Traditional Cache. In 2022, we invite you to find at least one Multi-Cache, one Mystery Cache, one Letterbox Hybrid, and one EarthCache in the new year. Who doesn’t love variety? This collection will challenge you with different styles of geocaching and take you to brand-new destinations that may not be possible with Traditional Caches.

Attend an Event

There are few things better in life than meeting fellow geocachers! In the new year, if you feel comfortable, attend an Event Cache in 2022 to meet fellow geocachers near you! Looking to increase your community impact? Consider participating in a Cache in Trash Out (CITO) to help beautify your community.

Attempt higher difficulty and terrain geocaches

Is there anything better than finding a geocache? Well, perhaps finding a geocache with a very high difficulty or terrain rating. In 2022, the sky’s the limit! We challenge you to find geocaches rated at or above 2.5 in either difficulty or terrain. If you’re feeling inspired, try to complete your D/T matrix, visible on your Personal Statistics Page.

Hide a cache

The old saying goes: “It is better to give than to receive.” If you’re in a giving mood in 2022, consider hiding a geocache in your local area! There’s no better time than this year; it’s Geocaching HQ’s Year of the Hide! Without passionate geocachers taking the time and effort to hide geocaches across the world, the game of geocaching would not be possible.
