The Geocaching® app first came out in 2013, and since then we've added many great features to the app for players of all experience levels. Some of these features are major components of the game such as Offline Maps and Drafts, while others include lesser known improvements to your caching experience. From icons you've never paid attention to while caching, to search filters you never knew existed, we've rounded up eight features that may have slipped under your radar, so that you can get the most out of each geocaching adventure. Displaying solved coordinates In the Geocaching® app, you can enter solved coordinates for Mystery caches. Any solved coordinates you submit in the app will be shown on Geocaching.com. The app also displays any solved coordinates you've created on Geocaching.com for any cache type. Entering solved coordinates in the Geocaching® app for Mystery Caches: 1. Choose a Mystery cache and tap Start. 2. Select Enter Solved Coordinates. 3. Input new coordinates and save. Navigating to solved coordinates in the Geocaching® app: As long as solved coordinates have been entered via the app or Geocaching.com, the app will navigate to those coordinates by default. Search for Trackable by code Trackables are physical game pieces that move from geocache to geocache. To search for a specific Trackable: Tap on the Magnify Glass icon at the top of the app. Select Trackable. Enter the trackable code and Search. Searching for a Trackable by code allows you to grab, retrieve, drop, dip or discover the trackable. Filtered search for caches Premium members can filter by geocache type, size, difficulty and terrain ratings, and filter out found and owned geocaches. Look for the funnel icon at the top right of the map screen to access Filtered Search. Your search filters will remain in place until you modify or reset them, and will also be applied as you move throughout the map. Search for GeoTour GeoTours are themed, self-guided tours showcasing engaging geocaches designed to introduce you to new locations around the world. To search for a GeoTour: Tap on the Magnify Glass icon at the top of the app. Select GeoTour. Enter the GT code and Search. Adding user waypoints A waypoint is a reference point for a physical location on Earth. Use waypoints to mark important locations such as stages of a Mystery or Multi cache, or to document your starting point at a parking lot or trailhead. To add a user waypoint in the Geocaching® app: 1. In the cache details page, select Waypoints. 2. Tap the + sign to add a waypoint. 3. Save the waypoint with any name. To add a user waypoint in the Geocaching® app: In the cache details page, select Waypoints. Tap the + sign to add a waypoint. Save the waypoint with any name. You can also easily navigate to, edit, delete, and mark waypoints as complete from the Geocaching® app. Viewing actual lat/long coordinates for a cache or waypoint Viewing the latitude and longitude coordinates for a cache or waypoint can be helpful in several situations. For example, viewing the coordinates is important when inputting the lat/lon into another device, such as a GPSr; or if you want to share the location with another player. View actual coordinates in the Geocaching® app: 1. Select Waypoints from the cache details page. 2. Tap the cache name below Existing Waypoints. 3. View the Posted Coordinates, navigate to them, or mark as complete. Saving lists offline Premium members can save lists of geocaches for offline use. Here's how to download a list and access it offline. 1. Go to the My Lists section of the Geocaching® app. 2. Tap the ellipsis (…) next to the list that you want to download. 3. Select Download Offline Data. Offline maps are saved in the Trails map type. When you're geocaching without an internet connection, switch to Trails to see your offline maps! Center Map and Swivel Mode The default navigation style in the Geocaching® app is “North-up navigation mode,” but there are several options for viewing your location in the map, such as center and swivel. Tap the icon in the top corner of the map to center it to your location. The icon will be green when the map is centered, and white when you move the map screen. Appuyez sur l'icône dans le coin en haut de la carte pour centrer sur votre position. L'icône deviendra verte quand la carte sera centrée, et blanche quand vous déplacez la carte. Alle gelösten Koordinaten, die Du in der App eingibst, erscheinen auf Geocaching.com. Die App zeigt auch alle gelösten Koordinaten, die Du auf Geocaching.com für alle Geocache-Arten erstellt hast. Geöste Koordinaten in der Geocaching® App für Rätselcaches eingeben: 1. Wähle einen Rätselcache aus und tippe auf Start. 2. Wähle Eingabe gelöster Koordinaten 3. Gib neue Koordinaten ein und speichere. Navigation zu gelösten Koordinaten mit der Geocaching® App: Wenn gelöste Koordinaten in der App oder Geocaching.com eingegeben wurden, navigiert die App immer standardmäßig zu diesen Koordinaten. Suche nach einem Trackable anhand des Codes Trackables sind Gegenstände, die von Geocache zu Geocache transportiert werden. So suchst Du nach einem bestimmten Trackable: 1. Tippe auf das Vergrößerungsglas links oben in der App. 2. Wähle Trackable 3. Suche nach Caches mit Filtern Premium-Mitglieder können nach Geocaching-Art, Größe, Schwierigkeits- und Geländegrad filtern und gefundene und eigene Caches ausschließen. Halte Ausschau nach dem Trichter-Icon oben rechts auf der Karte, um die gefilterte Suche zu starten. Deine Suchfilter bleiben gesetzt bis Du sie veränderst oder zurücksetzt und sind auch beim Bewegen auf der Karte aktiv. Suche nach GeoTour GeoTours sind themenbezogene, selbstgeführte Touren, die attraktive Geocaches präsentieren, um Dir neue Orte auf der ganzen Welt zu zeigen. So suchst Du nach einer GeoTour: 1. Tippe auf das Vergrößerungsglas oben in der App. 2. Wähle GeoTour aus. 3. Gib den GT-Code ein und tippe auf Suchen Einfügen benutzerspezifischer Wegpunkte Ein Wegpunkt ist ein Referenzpunkt für einen physischen Standort auf der Erde. Längen/Breitengrad-Koordinaten für einen Cache oder Wegpunkt anschauen Es kann in verschiedenen Situationen hilfreich sein, die Längen/Breitengrad-Koordinaten anzuschauen. Zum Beispiel ist es wichtig, die Koordinaten zu sehen, wenn man sie in einem anderen Gerät wie z. B. einem GPS-Empfänger eingeben möchte, oder wenn Du den Ort mit einem anderen Mitspieler teilen willst. So kannst Du die Koordinaten in der Geocaching® App anschauen: 1. Wähle Wegpunkte aus auf der Seite Cache Details 2. Tippe auf den Cachenamen unter bestehenden Wegpunkten. 3. Schau die angegebenen Koordinaten an, navigiere zu ihnen oder markiere sie als erledigt. Lesezeichelisten offline speichern Premium-Mitglieder können Lesezeichenlisten von Geocaches für den Offlinegebrauch speichern. So lädst Du eine Lesezeichenliste herunter und greifst offline darauf zu: 1. Geh auf Meine Lesezeichenlisten in der Geocaching® App. 2. Tippe auf die Ellipse (…) neben der Lesezeichenliste, die Du herunterladen möchtest. 3. Wähle Herunterladen von Offlinedaten aus. Offline-Karten werden in Form von Wanderkarten gespeichert. Wenn Du ohne Internetverbindung Geocachen gehst, wechsle auf die Wanderansicht, um Deine Offline-Karten zu sehen! Zentrierte oder sich drehende Kartenansicht Die standardmäßige Navigationsausrichtung der Geocaching® App ist der “Norden ist oben Navigationsmodus”, aber es gibt mehrere Möglichkeiten, Deinen Standort auf der Karte anzuschauen, wie z. B. zentriert oder sich drehend. Tippe das Icon in der oberen Ecke der Karte an, um sie auf Deinen Standort zu zentrieren. Das Icon ist grün, wenn die Karte zentriert ist und weiß, wenn Du die Kartenanzeige bewegst. Tippe nochmal auf das Icon, um den Drehmodus einzuschalten. Tus filtros de búsqueda permanecerán activos hasta que los modifiques o elimines y se aplicarán también cuando te muevas a través del mapa. Busqueda por GeoTour Los GeoTours visitas autoguiadas, temáticas, que muestran geocachés atractivos diseñados para mostrarte nuevas localizaciones alrededor del mundo. Para buscar un GeoTour: 1. Pulsa en el icono de la lupa en la parte superior de la app. 2. Selecciona GeoTour. 3. Introduce el código GT y Búsqueda. Añadir waypoint del usuario. Un Waypoint es un punto de referencia para indicar una ubicación física en la Tierra. Utiliza Waypoints para marcar ubicaciones importantes como etapas de un Mystery o Multicaché, o para dejar constancia del punto de partida en un aparcamiento o comienzo de camino. Para añadir un waypoint personal en la app de Geocaching®: 1. En la página de detalles del caché, selecciona Waypoints. 2. Pulsa el icono + para añadir un waypoint. 3. Pulsar en la elipsis (…) junto a la lista que quieres descargar. 3. Selecciona Descargar Datos sin Conexión. Los mapas sin conexión se guardan como mapas de tipo Senderos. ¡Cuando estés haciendo geocaching sin conexión, cambia a vista de Senderos para ver tus mapas sin conexión! Modos Centrar y Girar mapa El modo de navegación por defecto de la app de Geocaching® es “modo de navegación Norte Arriba”, pero hay varias opciones para ver tu ubicación en el mapa, como centrar y girar. Pulsa el icono en el rincón superior del mapa para centrarlo en tu ubicación. El icono será verde cuando el mapa esté centrado, y blanco cuando muevas la pantalla del mapa.
