Anyhoo… The husband and wife geocaching team of Nickie! & Brian~! hid the Multi-Cache in January of 2011. Bryan writes, “I've been given co-credit for the cache, but it was really all Nickie's work, I just tested out some of the maths involved.” The difficulty three, terrain one geocache was placed with the permission of the British Library. Geocachers explore several key locations in the library to discover clues in paintings, plaques and signs. Start outside the library in the piazza at the statue of famed English mathematician, astronomer, and physicist Sir Isaac Newton. 2. Come back to the foyer inside the building to the statue of Sir William Shakespeare. Maybe you've heard of Bill's work? 3. Ready for your mind to melt? Feast your eyes on Paradoxymoron by Patrick Hughes. 4. Check out the scale model of the library. (No, it's not a center for ants.) 5. Head into the Sir John Ritblat Gallery to find a very large globe donated by a very historical figure. 6. That 6-story UV-filtered glass-encased library? Those are books were personally collected and acquired by King George III from the 18th century. 7. Who takes care of all these historical books and artifacts? The Conservation Centre. Head over there for the answer to stage “G”. 8. There is an entire Manuscripts Reading Room at the British Library, and you'll see a painting of 1st Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer Robert Harley as you enter. 9. Next stop is the Newsroom where you can find news sources from the 1600s. You will be greeted by a bust of Sir John Lawrence. 10. Your final stop is the Map Reading Room foyer where you will find a GIANT atlas. Woohoo! Now get all the clues you solved and enter them into N51 GH.CAI W000 DB.EJF. This will take you to Stage 2, located outside. Inside this container you will find the location of the final stage, located back inside the library. Traditional GC56FKX by wen-go Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Location: Cayambe, Ecuador N 00° 00.000′ W 078° 10.500′ N 00° 00.000′ W 078° 10.500′ — Aptly named, Ecuador straddles the equator where the southern and northern hemispheres meet. Exactly at latitude N 00° 00.000′, the Quitsato Sundial was the first monument of the Equator in the history of the Republic of Ecuador. The location features a 54 meter diameter platform embellished with a mosaic of river stones. The different shades of rock create an eight-pointed star, also known as a compass rose that indicates solstices and equinoxes. At the center of the platform stands a giant 10-meter high sundial that can be used to tell time. This platform is also used to explain the albedo effect when the darker stones create higher temperatures from the absorption of sunlight. The cache takes you to a viewpoint to relax and absorb all this celestial knowledge. [...]

À l'abordage moussaillon ! Il est temps de planifier, les events de pirates doivent être préparés avant que les géocacheurs accostent ! Le dernier jour pour soumettre ces events du 15 et 16 juillet est le 1 juillet 2017, donc commencez à planifier dès maintenant pour ne rien oublier ! Il y a vraiment trois choses dont les events géocaching ont besoin pour rester dans les mémoires : un thème, des jeux amusants, et des géocacheurs ! Suivez quelques-unes des idées sur le thème des pirates et vous dirigerez votre équipage en un rien de temps, Cap'taine ! Tout d'abord, faites savoir aux participants qu'ils sont au bon endroit en dressant un drapeau de pirate ou en marquant l'endroit d'un grand X à a craie. Ce n'est pas tous les jours que l'on organise un event de pirates, alors mettez tout de votre côté en créant un vieux logbook abîmé dans une bouteille ! C'est facile d'utiliser du papier d'imprimante pour en faire un parchemin en le faisant tremper dans du thé. Préparez du thé, laissez le refroidir, versez-le dans un plat rectangulaire, et plongez-y entièrement le papier. Retirez méticuleusement le papier et laissez-le séchez à une corde à linge ! Une vie de pirate n'est pas toujours facile mais il y a toujours du temps pour s'amuser et jouer ! Essayez d'organiser une chasse au trésor lors de l'event ! Donnez une série d'indices aux invités qui les mènera vers une cargaison de cartes au trésor. Assurez-vous que les cartes mènent bien au trésor, qui pourrait être n'importe quoi rentrant dans votre budget, comme des pièces en chocolat, des tags Mary Hyde, ou même le logbook ! Maintenant, vous avez planifié votre event, et il a été approuvé, et vous vous demandez : “que me reste-t-il à faire ? Et bien mon ami, parlez-en autour de vous ! À vos amis et également aux moldus, pour chercher le trésor perdu il vous faudra un équipage. Plus vous serez, plus le week-end du 15 et 16 juillet 2017 sera joyeux ! Si vous préférez géocacher seul ne vous inquiétez pas ! Vous pouvez y aller seul et défier les mer, mais voguer seul ne sera pas une simple affaire… Levez l'ancre ! Wie wir Euch letzte Woche berichtet haben, haben wir eine Flaschenpost nahe des Geocaching Hauptquartiers gefunden. Darin war ein Brief der berüchtigten Piratin Mary Hyde. Begleite uns auf ein draufgängerisches Geocaching Abenteuer durch waghalsige Heldentaten und stürmische Meere. Geh deinen Weg durch eine vierwöchige Souvenir-Reise um den verlorenen Schatz von Mary Hyde zu finden. Hier mehr erfahren. Gebt auf, Leute! Es ist Zeit zu planen, denn Piratenevents müssen vorbereitet sein, bevor die Geocachers an Land kommen! Der letzte Tag, um Events für 15. und 16. Juli einzureichen, ist der 1. Juli 2017. Also beginnt jetzt mit der Planung, damit Ihr nicht den ganzen Spaß verpasst! Es gibt eigentlich nur drei Dinge, die ein Geocaching-Event benötigt, um sich von der Masse abzuheben: Ein Motto, unterhaltsame Spiele und Geocacher! Beherzige einfach ein paar der Ideen für ein Piratenevent und schon bald bist Du der Anführer der Crew, Käpt'n! Zunächst sollten Deine Teilnehmer wissen, dass sie hier richtig sind. Dazu hisst Du am besten eine Totenkopfflagge oder markierst den Ort mit Straßenmalkreide mit einem X. Es passiert nicht alle Tage, dass Du Gastgeber eines Piratenevents bist, also alle Mann an Bord und mache Dir Dein eigenes, wettergegerbtes und altes Logbuch in einer Flasche! Es ist ganz leicht, Computerpapier in ein Pergament zu verwandeln, indem Du es in Tee tauchst. Brühe einfach eine Kanne Schwarztee auf, lass den Tee abkühlen, gieße ihn in ein rechteckiges Backblech und tauche das Papier ganz darin ein. Nimmt dann das Papier vorsichtig aus dem Tee und trockne es auf einem Trockengestell! Das Leben eines Piraten ist nicht immer leicht, aber es gibt immer genug Zeit für Spiel und Spaß! Versuche, während des Events eine Schatzsuche zu organisieren! Gib allen Gästen ein paar Hinweise, die sie zu einem Stapel Schatzkarten führt. Die Schatzkarten führen dann zum vergrabenen Schatz, der alles sein kann, was Dein Budget zulässt, wie z. B. Schokotaler, Piratenanhänger oder sogar das Logbuch! Letztendlich hast Du Dein Event geplant, es wurde genehmigt und Du denkst “Was gibt es noch zu tun?” Nun, mein Freund, sag es allen weiter! Erzähle es Deinen Freunden und auch Muggels, denn für die Suche nach verlorenen Schätzen brauchst Du ‘ne Crew! Je mehr, desto besser am 15. oder 16. Juli 2017! Wenn Du Geocaching lieber alleine machst, keine Sorge! Du kannst es auch alleine machen und die Meere durchkreuzen, aber alleine zu segeln heißt sich nie sicher zu fühlen… Anker lichten! En realidad, solo se necesitan estas tres cosas para que un evento de geocaching funcione: un tema, juegos entretenidos y ¡geocachers! Sigue algunas de las ideas temáticas que aparecen a continuación y ¡en nada dirigirás el mayor galeón! En primer lugar, haz que los asistentes sepan que están en el lugar adecuado arriando una bandera pirata o dibujando una cruz con tiza en el suelo. No todos los días organizas un evento pirata, así que crea tu propio viejo y desgastado log book ¡dentro de una botella! Es fácil, para que un folio se convierta en un pergamino hay que sumergirlo en té. Prepara una taza de té negro, deja que se enfríe, vértela en un recipiente rectangular y sumerge todo el papel. Cuidadosamente, saca el papel del té y déjalo secar sobre un secador. La vida pirata no siempre es fácil, ¡pero siempre hay tiempo para la diversión y los juegos! Intenta organizar una búsqueda del tesoro en tu evento! Da a todos los asistentes una serie de pistas que les lleven a un suministro de mapas del tesoro. Haz que los mapas del tesoro lleven a un tesoro enterrado que puede ser cualquier cosa que te permita tu presupuesto, como monedas de chocolate, chapas de Mary Hyde ¡o incluso el libro de registro! It's been a little over a month since we released the first versions of the new Profile and Dashboard on Geocaching.com. We shared the reason we were making changes with you and that we want to do things differently. Instead of releasing big changes every few months we want to be agile and update features quickly to get them ready for you to play with. We listen to your feedback so we can tweak and adjust pages until they are just right. Based on your response, we know that you want your Profile and Dashboard to be more customizable. With our latest releases we've done just that. Filter recent logs. You can now choose if you want to show only your activity, or your and your friends' recent activity on the Dashboard. Focus on what's important. Like onions, geocaching has many layers. If you want to get to the core of what is important to you, you can now ‘peel' back what you don't need to see by collapsing sections on the Dashboard. Or expand them for an overview of everything that is happening in your geocaching world. And coming soon: The About tab on your public profile will return to its former position as the default tab. It's a place to share something about yourself and what you love about geocaching. Add content in the Bio field of your profile settings or head on over to Project-GC to get a custom stats for your profile. With these options, you can truly make the Profile and Dashboard your own. But we are not done improving. We're just getting started and we'll continue to adjust the Profile and Dashboard based on your feedback.
